Keene, NH- The City council has decided a single-lane roundabout is the best way to deal with a dangerous intersection.
Thursday night the council voted 13 to 1 to proceed with plans for a roundabout at the intersection of Base Hill Road and Route 9. The move follows last week’s recommendation by the City’s Municipal Services, Facilities and Infrastructure committee to address the problems created by the dangerous intersection.
While the majority of the Council voted in favor of the roundabout, Councilor Kris Roberts cast the only dissenting vote. Roberts told WKBK’s Paul Scheuring his vote was based on the DOT’s own assessment that a single-lane roundabout would be overloaded within 5 or 6 years, saying in effect, that a single-lane circle would be too small.
